Dr. Cedric De Coning is a peace, security, and governance expert. He and I served together on the Tana Technical Committee, and he has participated in many of the 10 Tana Forums. During our discussion, he shared his experiences with the Tana Forum, highlighting several key insights, including the following:
1. Without investing in peace and security, we will not achieve the development we desire. Peace and security cannot be attained solely through military action, political efforts, or the work of peacebuilding experts. Instead, they are integral to the value systems we need to foster within our societies and communities.
2. He recommends that the Tana Forum engage the private sector more than it currently does. This engagement would provide a better understanding of economics, climate change, technology, values, and cultures, allowing us to benefit from a broader community perspective.
