Leaders must be disciplined and leave political office early!

This week, I am featuring Former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, who participated in all the #Tana Forums from 2012 to 2022. He participated when he was Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister under Prime Minister Meles Zenawi from 2010 to 2012 and as Prime Minister of #Ethiopia from 2012 to 2018. Below are two of his many important messages on peace and security in Africa:

1. Africans should focus on conflict prevention and maintaining peace, as deployment and standby forces are expensive and complex.

2. Succession planning is critical at the party and government level for enduring peace and stability. Leaders should know when to leave office for the common good of any country.

You can read more about the interview and his views on the Tana Forum in” Tana At: A Celebration” here: https://hesphina.com/2025/01/06/tana-at-ten-publications/
