The world is filled with kind-hearted people.

This morning, as I was out for a run, I saw a lady pull over her car, step out onto the highway, and carefully pick up a chameleon. She then returned, cradling it gently in her hands, and placed it in a nearby bush. Intrigued, I approached her and asked what she was doing. She explained that she noticed the chameleon was in danger on the busy road, so she took the time to help it find safety.

Once she completed her act of kindness, she got back in her car and drove away.

I couldn’t help but smile and reflect on how attuned we can be to the needs of those around us who are navigating their difficult paths. Some calls for help are quiet, while others are more urgent. The question is, are we truly seeing, hearing, feeling, or sensing their struggles?

This brief encounter served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of being present in our everyday lives and extending a helping hand whenever we can.  Many people find themselves in similar situations as the chameleon.
