How is Africa faring on the peace and security front?

I sat down with Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, the African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS), where he shared his reflections on the 10 years of the #TanaForum on Security in Africa.

Below, I share two of his many reflections:

1. Commissioner Bankole Adeoye wished the Tana Forum many more years ahead, highlighting the need to focus on the implementation of recommendations of the Tana Forum. He expressed the AU’s readiness to work with the Institute for Peace and Security Studies -IPSS and other stakeholders for sustainable peace on the continent.

2. The Commissioner reflected on the African Union Peace Fund, which demonstrates the AU’s realisation of the need to self-fund the continent’s peace and security agenda. He elaborated that the Peace Fund was being revitalised as part of the ongoing AU institutional reform.
