For the next few weeks, I will feature people I interviewed while writing my book “Tana At 10: Reflections On the 10 Years Of The Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa.” The interviews are featured in the coffee table book “Tana at 10: A Celebration.” I start with one of my favourite people, former President Obasanjo.
Amongst many of his key insights on peace and security in Africa, I share two here:
1. Africa must take responsibility for financing its peace and security agenda. Relying on external support is not sustainable.
2. Africans must lead peace negotiations on the continent for peace and stability to be sustainable. Foreign interventions like what happened in Libya do not last.
