In reviewing the ten years of the Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa, I emphasise women’s significant role in peace and security processes across the continent. The Tana Forum has showcased this by having three women lead the Tana Forum Secretariat since its inception in 2012: Hesphina Rukato from 2011-2012; Michelle Ndiaye from 2012-2020; and Lettie Longwe: 2020-Current. This must be celebrated!
I hope that such practices that recognise the role of women in leadership can be more widely demonstrated.
