The history of our continent is marked by a rich tapestry of diverse and momentous occasions. One such pivotal moment was the election of the esteemed Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma as the first female African Union Commission Chairperson in 2012. It was a privilege to have served as Deputy Chief of Staff in her Office.
While we eagerly await the next female Chairperson of the Commission, it is apparent that this will not come to fruition in 2025-2029, given that all candidates for the upcoming African Union Commission Chairperson elections are male.
Let us heed the wise words of the United Nations Secretary-General during the recently concluded #UNGA2024 when he said: “I call on all male-dominated political and economic establishments around the world to take action. It is doable.”
May #africa emerge triumphant in the forthcoming AU Commission elections in 2025. Africa first! Principle before self!
